Requirements
A computer with Windows operating system.
A USB cable to connect your Vex robot to your computer.
A Vex robot with a Cortex microcontroller.
A copy of Robotc for Vex Robotics 4.x installed on your computer. You can download it from [here].
A hex editor software, such as HxD. You can download it from [here].
Steps
Open Robotc for Vex Robotics on your computer and click on "Help" -> "Manage Licenses".
Click on "Add License" and enter any name and email address. Then, click on "Next".
Select "VEXnet or USB Only" as the platform type and click on "Next".
Enter any serial number that has 25 characters, such as "AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEE". Then, click on "Next".
You will see a message saying that the serial number is invalid. Click on "OK" and close the license manager window.
Navigate to the installation folder of Robotc for Vex Robotics on your computer, which is usually "C:\Program Files (x86)\Robomatter Inc\ROBOTC Development Environment".
Right-click on the file named "RobotC.exe" and select "Open with" -> "HxD".
In the hex editor window, press Ctrl+F and search for the string "Invalid Serial Number". You will find two occurrences of this string in the file.
Replace the first occurrence of this string with "Valid Serial Number ". Make sure to add two spaces at the end of the new string to match the length of the original string.
Replace the second occurrence of this string with " ". Make sure to add 16 spaces to fill the gap left by the original string.
Save the file and close the hex editor window.
Open Robotc for Vex Robotics again and click on "Help" -> "Manage Licenses". You will see that your license has been activated and is valid until December 31, 2099.
